Skater of the Month: October 2017

Danica and Felicity Lothrop

Thank you for choosing us to be the Skater of the Month. We moved to Hawaii 1 ½ years ago from California and are absolutely loving it here.

Hi, I’m Danica. I’m 11 years old and live in Kailua. My first time on the ice was when I was 17 months old. Unfortunately, when we lived in California we did not live near a rink and were not able to go that often. I began lessons last summer after moving to Hawaii. I am currently working on Freestyle 1. My goal is to get past Freestyle 3 so I can start working towards my USFSA Pre-preliminary tests. My favorite skating move are lunges and waltz jumps. My most memorable skating moment was participating in my first competition this past August. Some things you may not know about me is that I’m a Level 5 competitive gymnast and I also race BMX both Nationally and Internationally. I also enjoy golfing, hiking and kayaking.

Hi, I’m Felicity. I’m originally from upstate NY where kids either figure skate or play hockey. I started skating at the age of 2 and continued to skate into my early years as an adult at which point I began to teach. I absolutely love teaching skaters of all ages and abilities. I have passed my Junior Freestyle, Senior Moves in the Field, 7th Figure, Gold Dance as well as some International Dances. I have many memorable skating moments, way too many to list. Skating has taught me so much and truly is what molded me to become the person I am today. This amazing sport has provided me so many memories and friendships that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I’m looking forward to seeing what it will provide for Danica in her future. When I’m not at the rink you can find me spending time with Danica and my son Brodie, as their cheerleader for the various sports they participate in.
