Joe and Jennifer Glade
My name is Jennifer Glade and I am 15 years old. I have been skating for the past 6 years. I got into skating by going to a birthday party, and my parents decided to sign me up for figure skating classes. I am currently in Freestyle 5 for ISI, and testing for my Pre-Juvenile Moves in the Field for USFS. My coaches are Coach Jean and Coach Susan. My favorite jumps and spins include the camel spin, sit spin, lutz jump and loop jump. One of my favorite ice skating moments was landing my axel. I am also a volunteer with the Skate School program.
Some of my other extracurricular activities include playing basketball and volleyball for my school, Calvary Chapel Christian School. My favorite skaters include Ashley Wagner, Jason Brown, Nathan Chen, Maia and Alex Shibutani, Yuzuru Hanyu, and Evgenia Medvedeva.
Some of my additional hobbies include watching anime and drawing what comes to mind. In closing, I would like to leave you with one of my favorite quotes. “Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.” -Rikki Rogers
My name is Joseph Glade and I have been skating for the past 5 years. My reason for getting into ice skating was to spend more time with my daughter, as well as challenge myself. I am currently in Freestyle 3 for ISI, and passed Adult Pre-Bronze Moves in the Field for USFS. Miss Robyn is my coach. I am currently a volunteer with the Skate School program and love helping others learn to skate. One of my most recent favorite ice skating moments was finally landing my salchow jump, after weeks of trying. Another one would have to be during last year’s Hawaiian Open, when Jennifer and I tied for first place in family spotlight.
I am a Captain in the Army National Guard, a Shop Supervisor for a Field Maintenance Shop and a business owner. In addition, I am working on my Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering. My favorite skater would have to be my daughter Jennifer of course 😊.
I am truly grateful to be involved in such a fun sport, and more grateful to be doing it with my daughter. One of my favorite quotes is, “Don’t be afraid of being different, be afraid of being the same as everyone else.”
