Hi my name is Zofia Dice-Cholodzinski and I’ve been skating for around ten years now. At the age of seven I went to a birthday party at the Ice Palace and fell in love with the ice. From that point on I would be “falling” in love with the ice quite often. Although I wasn’t great at first I kept getting back up and loved the sense of accomplishment every time I conquered a new move.
Recently, my favorite moves have been the axel and hair cutter spin. I love trying out new tricks in the artistry class which has taught me a lot. I even have begun to have a passion for footwork which was pushed by my routine for this month’s show.
My favorite skaters have to be Gracie Gold and Alex and Maia Shibutani. I feel that although Gracie Gold has had her downs she continues to push to be even better and that inspires me to do the same. The Shibutani’s are full of fire and passion which makes me strive to be performers like them.
This month, I graduate and am going to move across the country in the fall. I’m nervous but I know I’ll have skating no matter what. Skating has done so much for me and I’m excited to see what the next chapter of life has in store. I’ve learned so much from skating and how to never give up. It hasn’t always been easy for me but to me skating is not about how many times you fall but how many times you can get back up.
